TURTLES

Turtles are quadruped scaly animals belonging to the reptile group . The so-called animal (ordo) Testudinata (or Chelonians ) is distinctive and easily recognizable by the presence of a hard and rigid 'house' or bony shell .

This tortoise shell consists of two parts. The top of the back cover called the carapace ( carapace ) and bottom (ventral, stomach) is called the plastron. Then each part is composed of two layers. Outer layers are generally large, hard scales, and arranged like a tile; while the inner layer is in the form of bone plates which are arranged tightly like a shell. Exceptions are in the group of turtles (Trionychoidea) and the type of leatherback turtle , whose outer layer is not scaly and is replaced by a layer of skin on the outer shell.

 in Indonesian "Penyu" and "Kura Kura" is different, "Penyu" Is A turtles as live at the sea while the "Kur Kura" live at a land and  river

Characteristic of Kura Kura have a hard shell. The turtle's shell has an outer layer consisting of hard scales and an inner layer of tightly arranged bone plates.Turtles have sharp nails on all four legs to help him walk on land.When threatened, the tortoise will put its head in the shell.
